Christmas is a very special holiday that is always celebrated on December 25 to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. This holiday is one of the most celebrated holidays throughout the year and many events take place. Xmas Eve, the night before the Christmas is a time when most friends and family will gather to enjoy each other's company, eat, drink and converse. When Christmas morning arrives, it is usually marked by families running to their Xmas trees to open presents. Beginning several weeks or even a month before Christmas, most families who celebrate this holiday will decorate their homes with a xmas tree. Fresh or artificial, the tree is then decorated with an abundance of ornaments, garland and other things such as candy canes. Presents are placed under the tree to open on Christmas Day. Alternatively, some families open the gifts on Christmas Eve. Many will also add Christmas decorations to their entire homes, and to the outside of the home. Lights are strung up and some homes are quite famous locally if their house is known for having an abundance of lights. Young children are often told that the gifts they receive come from Santa Claus. Santa is a fictional character created from the origins of Saint Nicholas. He is said to travel on a sled that flies high is the sky, powered by eight magical reindeer. No matter how a person chooses to celebrate this holiday, the most important key is that they are with beloved family. Present ideas are best thought of throughout the year.
